Two COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in Busan Including a 20s Man Deported from the Philippines

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] On the 8th, Busan City announced that two overseas arrivals, including a man in his 20s who was deported after being caught operating a gambling site in the Philippines, tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The first confirmed case is a 26-year-old man residing in Yeonje-gu, Busan (case number 136), who was caught and deported after running a sports gambling site with an office set up in the Philippines.
He was arrested by the police immediately upon arrival at Incheon Airport around 5 a.m. on the 7th and was promptly transported to Busan. After being investigated in a quarantine space at the Busan Police Agency, he was notified of a positive COVID-19 test result at around 5:40 p.m. the same day and was transferred to Busan Medical Center.
Due to case 136 testing positive, three police officers who had investigated him were quarantined at a temporary living facility designated by Busan City, and the police disinfected the quarantine investigation space and transport vehicle with the cooperation of the health center.
The second confirmed case is a 61-year-old woman residing in Gangseo-gu, Busan (case number 137). She arrived at Incheon Airport from Singapore on the 6th, took the KTX to Busan Station, and was tested at the Busan Station screening clinic, where she was confirmed positive.
Neither of the two showed COVID-19 suspected symptoms such as fever upon arrival at Incheon Airport.

The city health authorities are investigating the overseas stay period and region of these confirmed cases, the international flights used upon entry, the onset time of initial symptoms, movements after entering Korea, and close contacts.
