The participants worked hard collecting marine debris such as old fishing gear, large Styrofoam pieces, and household waste, which are considered major causes of marine pollution.
This cleanup activity, led by the Saemaul family, was conducted along the coastline near Sinri Village and Deokcheon Village in Daedeok-eup, Jangheung-gun.
On that day, the participants collected marine debris amounting to about 20 one-ton trucks.
The Jangheung-gun Saemaul Association plans to continue marine debris cleanup activities and provide education and promotion to fishermen and local residents as marine environment guardians.
This campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of the marine environment and to create a clean and healthy marine environment by eradicating the inflow of land pollutants into the sea.
It is also conducted as part of the 2020 Marine Environment Conservation Project carried out by the Jeonnam Provincial Government.
