Korea Securities Depository Appoints Park Cheol-young as New Executive Director
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] The Korea Securities Depository held an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders on the 7th and announced the appointment of Park Cheol-young, head of the Depository Department at the Korea Securities Depository, as the successor to former Executive Director Park Im-chul, whose term had expired. The term of office is three years starting from the 8th of this month.
Former Executive Director Park was born in Hongcheon, Gangwon Province, graduated from Gangwon Provincial High School for Education and Sungkyunkwan University with a degree in law, and earned a Ph.D. in law from the same graduate school.

He joined the Korea Securities Depository in 1991 and has held key positions including head of the Legal Team, head of the Electronic Securities Team, head of the Risk Management Department, head of the Management Strategy Department, head of the Management Support Headquarters, and head of the Depository Department. In particular, he has made significant contributions to the development of the securities depository system and the legal framework for collective investment schemes, earning a reputation as the top expert in the capital market’s back-office operations with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
