View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Eom Jaesik, Chairman of the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, attended the International Nuclear Regulators' Association (INRA) meeting held via video conference at 10 p.m. on the 6th, where he discussed nuclear safety regulations related to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) with heads of regulatory agencies from seven countries including France.
The regulatory agency heads agreed during the meeting that nuclear safety must be ensured to the greatest extent possible even amid the spread of COVID-19.
They also shared the current status of responses by each country's regulatory agencies. Topics included limited on-site inspections, implementation of regulatory activities through video conferences, and system establishment for emergency situations.

Chairman Eom stated, "Since the early stages of COVID-19, the NSSC has continuously managed the situation by requiring nuclear operators to establish related safety measures," adding, "We will strictly adhere to the hygiene guidelines presented by health authorities and strive to ensure that safety regulations and nuclear power plant operations can proceed normally."
