GS Retail launches wine 'Number 3 Eroica' in partnership with Chateau Ballandrowa
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] GS Retail will launch the wine "Number 3 Eroica," in partnership with the famous winery Ch?teau Balandreau, on the 12th.
Number 3 Eroica is a wine dedicated by Jean-Luc Thunevin, who operates Ch?teau Balandreau, and GS Retail to commemorate the 30th anniversary of GS25's founding and the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth.
Number 3 Eroica is a premium wine made with the same blending as Ch?teau Balandreau, Jean-Luc Thunevin's signature wine and one of the world's top 50 cult wines. It is aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, offering rich fruit aromas such as blackberry and vanilla notes. It is made from grapes harvested in 2016 from vines with an average age of 30 years and can be stored long-term for at least 10 years.
The label features the dedication marking GS25's 30th anniversary and Beethoven's 250th birthday, along with a portrait of Beethoven and his masterpiece Symphony No. 3 Eroica, which he completed despite his disability. Through the QR code at the bottom of the wine label, customers can access videos and explanations of the Eroica Symphony performed directly by the Korean Symphony Orchestra. The price is 100,000 KRW, but until the end of June, it is available at a special launch price of 55,000 KRW at GS25 and GS The Fresh.
The launch of Number 3 Eroica reflects customers' strong preference for GS25's Number and Nature series wines (reference materials).
The sales composition ratio of Number and Nature series wines among GS25's total wine sales has rapidly increased every year, recording 15.2% in 2017, 23.1% in 2018, and 42.2% in 2019. Accordingly, to build a top-tier product lineup, the fifth series wine, Number 3 Eroica, was introduced.
