View original image[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Juhee] Singer Hotfelt (Yeeun), formerly of the idol group Wonder Girls, spoke about her feminist declaration.
On the June 6 broadcast of MBC variety show 'Radio Star,' Hotfelt, who made a comeback with her first full album '1719,' appeared as a guest and shared her thoughts.
On the day, Ahn Youngmi asked about Hotfelt's past feminist declaration, saying, "Did you know in advance that declarations like being a feminist or choosing not to marry would cause controversy?"
In response, Hotfelt said, "I didn't intend to make a declaration. But I heard that some fans burned CDs after a girl group member posted proof that she had read 'Kim Ji-young, Born 1982.' Out of curiosity, I looked for the book and read it. I liked the content, and since the story of the protagonist was similar to my own situation, I posted my impressions on SNS," she explained.
At the time, Hotfelt left a comment on her Instagram story about the novel 'Kim Ji-young, Born 1982,' saying, "It was my story. It was my mom's story. It was my sister's story. It was my friend's story. It was all of our stories."
She continued, "When I looked up the word 'feminist,' I found it meant the belief that men and women are equal, so I said that I am a feminist. I do not regret this," expressing her conviction.

Regarding her declaration as a non-marriage advocate, she said, "It's not that I won't get married, but I don't think marriage is something that must be done, so I called myself a non-marriage advocate. If someone to spend my life with appears, I could choose to marry, but I don't think 'I have to get married because I'm getting older,'" she said.
