View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Kim] Choi Yoon, chairman of OK Financial Group, which includes affiliates such as OK Savings Bank and OK Capital, received a plaque of appreciation from overseas Korean school principals.
OK Financial announced on the 6th that this plaque of appreciation was given in recognition of donating 1 million masks to domestic child welfare facilities, students, expatriate children, and faculty members of ethnic schools worldwide to help overcome the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The plaque presentation ceremony was held at the Seoul National University Overseas Education Support Center in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, with overseas Korean school principals and officials from around the world attending via video conference.
The Overseas Education Support Center, under the Ministry of Education, supports the educational operations and school management of 34 overseas Korean schools worldwide. These overseas Korean schools are established in 16 countries around the world, including Southeast Asian regions such as Vietnam, the Philippines, and Singapore, as well as Paraguay, Russia, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, and Iran.

Chairman Choi also serves as the chairman of the OK Bae and Jeong Scholarship Foundation and the chairman of Geumgang School, an overseas Korean school in Osaka, Japan. Chairman Choi stated, “Having grown up as a third-generation Korean resident in Japan, I deeply empathize with the difficulties of the growth environment. I hope overseas Koreans living in foreign countries do not lose their ‘Korean pride’ and grow as original Koreans.” He added, “There were many difficulties in securing 1 million masks and in the entire process of safely delivering masks to distant foreign countries scattered around the world, but I hope that hope and our sincerity are fully conveyed to overseas Koreans struggling due to the spread of COVID-19.”
