20s Male in Daejeon Tests Positive for COVID-19 Again... Second Case in the Region
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] A man in his 20s in Daejeon who was discharged after being declared recovered from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has tested positive again. This is the second case of reinfection in the region.
According to Daejeon City on the 6th, patient A (#37), who was discharged after being declared recovered on the 19th of last month (resident of Yuseong-gu), was re-diagnosed positive around 9 PM the previous day and was re-admitted to Chungnam National University Hospital.
Patient A initially tested positive on the 4th of last month and received treatment at Chungnam National University Hospital before being discharged after recovery. However, during the 14-day self-quarantine period, he developed a cough and was tested again for COVID-19, resulting in a positive reinfection diagnosis.
Currently, patient A shows good health except for the cough and no other symptoms. The city explained that he practiced self-quarantine separately from his family after recovery, so there are no additional contacts or confirmed movement paths.
The total cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Daejeon area is 40, and as of the 6th, two patients, including patient A and patient B (#40, who arrived from the United Kingdom), are receiving inpatient treatment at hospitals.
