The "Retiree Volunteer School" is a program that supports retirees (or those planning to retire) to participate in volunteer activities for the local community by utilizing their rich social experience and capabilities.
Since it first started nationwide in 2006, 654 people have completed the program to date.
This "16th Retiree Volunteer School" will be held for 4 weeks from the 26th to June 16th.
The education is conducted over a total of 7 sessions every Tuesday and Thursday for 50 retirees (or those planning to retire) aged between 45 and 65.
There are valuable lectures prepared, including an introduction to volunteering and a new understanding of retirement, as well as courses where participants can explore and choose volunteer activities that suit their aptitude and leisure.
Above all, it will be a precious time for those who feel uncertain about how to spend their time after retirement, as they can hear about the volunteer experiences and cases of senior volunteers who are spending a meaningful old age through volunteer activities after retirement.
A representative from the Volunteer Center explained the planning purpose, saying, "Retirement is a 'new start in life,' and volunteer activities positively change the perception of retirement and serve as an opportunity to begin a second life."
The Retiree Volunteer School will be held in the large lecture hall on the 7th floor of the Gangdong-gu Volunteer Center (Hersher Tower, Gangdong Station), which was expanded and relocated last year.
