[Breaking] Firefighting Helicopter Crashes Near Jirisan, Sancheong, Gyeongnam... Occupants Being Confirmed
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] At around 12:06 PM on the 1st, a firefighting helicopter crashed while flying near Cheonwangbong Peak of Jirisan Mountain in Jungsan-ri, Sicheon-myeon, Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province.
According to firefighting authorities, the helicopter is presumed to have crashed while transporting a patient to the hospital after responding to a mountain accident rescue request and rescuing the patient.
The crashed firefighting helicopter was a Sikorsky S-76 model leased from the private sector, capable of carrying up to 14 people.
The helicopter was dispatched with five firefighting personnel on board, including the pilot, co-pilot, mechanic, rescue team member, and paramedic. The Fire Agency stated that it is currently confirming whether the patient and guardian were on board.

The firefighting authorities plan to set up an on-site command post at the Gyeongnam Nature Learning Center in Jungsan-ri and proceed with accident recovery efforts.
