18th Anniversary of the Safety Evaluation Research Institute "Full Effort to End COVID-19"
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] On the 29th, the Safety Evaluation Research Institute held a commemorative ceremony at its headquarters in Daejeon to mark its 18th anniversary.
On this day, the Gyeongnam branch was recognized for its achievements, including publishing 33 papers last year and contributing to the first domestic registration of a herbicide with the US EPA, receiving the 'KIT Achievement Award.'
Senior Researcher Jinsu Lee of the Reproductive Toxicity Research Group published research results titled "Safety Study of Titanium Dioxide Nanomaterials in Health-Vulnerable Pregnant Women" in a journal within the top 3% in the field of toxicology, and was awarded the 'KIT Person of the Year Award' in recognition of this work, which was selected as the institute's best paper last year.
Additionally, awards such as the Minister of Science and ICT Award, the Chairman of the National Research Council of Science & Technology Award, Long-term Service Merit Awards, and the KIT Win-Win Cooperation Award were presented.
Director Changwoo Song stated, "We will fully leverage the institute's capabilities to develop treatments and vaccines to end the COVID-19 pandemic, and by 2032, the 30th anniversary of the institute's founding, we will set mid- to long-term goals to fulfill our R&R of realizing public health and a safe society, becoming an institution that continues to advance."
