Holding a Meeting Among Related Agencies to Prevent and Eradicate Abuse of Persons with Disabilities
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 28th that it has selected the protection of socially vulnerable groups, such as the abuse of persons with disabilities, as a core task and is promoting policies tailored to enabling people with disabilities in the province to enjoy a healthy and happy life, including strengthening the dedicated police officer system for people with developmental disabilities.
In particular, to respond systematically to cases of abuse against persons with disabilities, they are strengthening mutual support systems by holding meetings with the Jeonnam Developmental Disabilities Support Center and the Jeonnam Disability Rights Advocacy Agency.
To this end, through a meeting with the Jeonnam Developmental Disabilities Support Center on the 6th, they agreed to actively cooperate on ▲ requests for accompaniment during on-site investigations related to cases involving people with developmental disabilities and cooperation for the presence of trusted persons ▲ support for community publicity aimed at improving awareness of people with developmental disabilities ▲ education on human rights-based investigative methods to enhance the understanding of developmental disabilities, human rights sensitivity, and rights protection by dedicated police officers.
The Jeonnam Developmental Disabilities Support Center (Director Kang Seungwon) provided education from the 22nd to the 25th to 166 dedicated police officers responsible for investigating developmental disabilities at the Jeonnam Police Agency, covering the characteristics and communication of people with developmental disabilities and human rights-based investigative methods.
Additionally, through a meeting with the Jeonnam Disability Rights Advocacy Agency (Director Heo Juhyun) on the 17th, they promised ▲ consultation on the police notification obligation clause regarding abuse cases of persons with disabilities ▲ focusing the capabilities of each institution on abuse cases of persons with disabilities, and customized support centered on abused persons with disabilities.
