Japan's Largest Airline ANA to Implement Temporary Leave for Over 90% of Employees Until End of April
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] ANA (All Nippon Airways) Group, Japan's largest airline, is implementing temporary leave for more than 90% of its employees due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
On the 28th, Kyodo News reported that ANA Group plans to increase the number of employees on leave from the current level of about 20,000 to 43,000 by the end of April to reduce costs. This accounts for approximately 90% of ANA's total workforce.

Kyodo News stated that this measure is a response to the sharp decline in passenger demand caused by the spread of COVID-19. ANA Holdings, the parent company of ANA, recorded a first-quarter loss of 58.7 billion yen this year, marking the largest quarterly deficit in its history.
