Shinhan Financial Group Selected as a Global Carbon Management Excellence Company for the 6th Consecutive Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Haeyoung Kwon] Shinhan Financial Group was inducted into the Carbon Management Honors Club for the sixth consecutive year in the 'Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Change' on the 28th, becoming the first financial institution to enter the Hall of Fame for two consecutive years.
CDP is a global project that, on behalf of financial and investment institutions worldwide, requests major listed and unlisted companies in each country to disclose management information related to climate change response and the environment, analyzes this information, and provides it to investors and financial institutions. The report published annually by CDP is provided to financial institutions worldwide and is used as a guideline for ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investment decisions.
Following its first induction into the Hall of Fame last year, Shinhan Financial Group again achieved the highest CDP rating, 'Leadership A,' this year, securing its place in the Carbon Management Honors Club for six consecutive years. It is also the only domestic financial institution to enter the Hall of Fame for two consecutive years.
Since Chairman Jo Yong-byeong's inauguration, Shinhan Financial Group has been implementing its eco-friendly management vision, 'ECO Transformation 20·20,' established at the group level, investing and supporting 20 trillion KRW in green industries by 2030, and practicing carbon management to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20%. Last year, the group actively led ESG management by declaring the 'Group Climate Change Response Principles,' further advancing its existing environmental management activities.
