Korean Automotive Journalists Association Appoints Lee Seung-yong, Editor-in-Chief of Motor Magazine, as 10th President
[Asia Economy Reporter Su-yeon Woo] The Korea Automobile Journalists Association announced on the 28th that Lee Seung-yong, editor-in-chief of Motor Magazine, has been appointed as the 10th president.
The new president has been involved in automotive specialized publications such as Motor Magazine for over 20 years and served as the chairperson of the Car of the Year selection committee for six years starting in 2014. Lee was elected as the 10th president at the Korea Automobile Journalists Association's 2020 general meeting held in February at the Korea Transportation Safety Authority's Automobile Safety Research Institute. The previous president, Hong Dae-sun (Hankyoreh Newspaper), was appointed as a director and advisor of the association.
Choi Seok-hwan, deputy editor of Money Today, was appointed as vice president, and Ryu Jong-eun, a reporter from Hankook Ilbo, was appointed as chairperson of the Car of the Year selection committee. Additionally, the association completed the appointment of three directors, one auditor, one head each for external cooperation, ethics, and women's committees, and one secretary.
President Lee, who will lead the association anew, stated upon inauguration, "Marking the 10th anniversary of the Korea Automobile Journalists Association this year, we will seek support with an open mind from member company journalists and everyone involved in the automotive industry. We will prepare a forum to discuss key issues of the automotive industry in response to the demands of the new era and strive to become a solid communication platform in this changed era."
The Korea Automobile Journalists Association has 54 member media companies, including leading domestic daily newspapers, broadcasters, news agencies, online platforms, and automotive specialized publications, with about 200 journalists affiliated as members.

The Korea Automobile Journalists Association was established on August 12, 2010, with the purpose of creating media that contributes to the development of the automotive industry, promoting the establishment of a proper automotive culture, improving the qualifications of automotive journalists, and fostering camaraderie among members. In December 2013, it was approved as a corporation by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The association annually selects and announces the 'Car of the Year (COTY)' recognizing the best automobile in Korea.
