Ministry of Employment Adjusts Local Government and National Qualification Exam Schedules to "Ensure Test Takers' Opportunities"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The government will resolve the issue of candidates being unable to meet the eligibility requirements for local government official exams due to the postponement of national qualification exams aimed at preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea announced on the 28th that the written exams for the certificates required for the local government official level 9 recruitment exam will be held on June 14, so as not to overlap with the local government official level 9 recruitment written exam date (June 13).
The certificates required for the recruitment exam include 15 special grade eligibility certificates such as Information Processing (Industrial) Engineer, Surveying (Industrial) Engineer, Shipbuilding Industrial Engineer, and 15 additional point certificates including the Electronics Engineer certificate, whose pass announcement was originally scheduled for June 12.
Regarding the announcement dates for certificate results, the Ministry of Employment and Labor stated that the announcement for additional point certificates will be moved up to August 7, and for eligibility certificates, to August 7 and 28, respectively.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to amend the Local Government Officials Appointment Decree and related regulations to extend the standard date for reflecting additional points for national technical certificates from the day before the written exam (June 12) to allow this extension only for this year's local government official level 9 recruitment exam.
The cities and provinces, which conduct the local government official level 9 recruitment exams, will adjust the announcement dates for written exam passers and interview dates, considering the national technical certificate pass announcement dates (August 7 and 28).
The Ministry of Employment and Labor and local governments will revise and reannounce the plans for the national technical certificate exams and the local government official level 9 recruitment exams reflecting these changes.
