Chungnam, 'Establishment of Integrated Solar Power Maintenance Platform'
[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province will establish an integrated solar power operation and maintenance (O&M) platform this year. A total budget of 3.856 billion KRW will be invested in building the platform.
The province announced on the 28th that it will promote the ‘2020 Regional Vitality Project’ focusing on supporting the local display industry to overcome its crisis and developing a domestic standardized model for integrated solar power O&M.
According to the province, the domestic solar power industry has so far developed mainly around production, installation, and distribution. Module installations are also increasing in extreme environments at various sites such as buildings, reservoirs, and salt farms.
Reflecting on these industry conditions, the province analyzed that developing an integrated O&M manual is urgent to improve the performance and soundness of solar power generation.
Accordingly, the province plans to support diversification of industries so that local companies, which have faced difficulties due to large-scale LCD investments in China, can leverage their accumulated technology and know-how to enter the solar panel maintenance business.
To this end, the province will first establish indoor and outdoor practical testing sites for testing and evaluating solar power integrated O&M materials, parts, and equipment, as well as build monitoring systems and drone-based measurement systems.
Additionally, to commercialize solar power maintenance equipment and provide technical support, the province will support prototype production, testing and evaluation, product advancement and demonstration, technical guidance and information support, and marketing support.
