Hyundai Elevator Introduces Robotic Process Automation Across All Business Operations
Expected Annual Improvement of 6,250 Hours in Office Productivity
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Hyundai Elevator announced on the 28th that it will introduce Robotic Process Automation (RPA) across all operations including research and development (R&D), sales, finance, and management support.
RPA refers to software that automates large volumes of simple and repetitive tasks. To implement RPA, Hyundai Elevator held a digital innovation hackathon (a competition to produce prototype-level results over an extended period, similar to a marathon) starting in March.
Through this, Hyundai Elevator selected 21 innovative ideas out of a total of 52 submissions from 16 business departments. Major submissions included an automatic design program, a real-time customer satisfaction survey and analysis system, and a market information automatic search bot. Hyundai Elevator expects to improve office productivity by 6,250 hours annually through these initiatives.
Song Seung-bong, CEO of Hyundai Elevator, stated, "Despite this being our first attempt, many innovative ideas that can be immediately applied to work were submitted," adding, "We will lead the creation of a digital ecosystem by integrating 4th Industrial Revolution technologies into the elevator industry, which has been traditionally perceived as a typical manufacturing sector."
