13 Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Offices Receive Corporate Difficulties Related to COVID-19 Entry Restrictions
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 28th that it is providing support to resolve various entry and exit difficulties through 13 regional Small and Medium Venture Business Offices.
This support for resolving entry and exit difficulties is a measure to minimize the hardships faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) struggling with exports due to global entry restrictions imposed amid the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups is actively identifying difficulties faced by SMEs due to COVID-19 related entry restrictions through regional SME offices. Additionally, urgent and important issues are being addressed through the "Pan-Government Corporate Entry Difficulty Task Force."
Due to COVID-19 entry restrictions, overseas companies and others are quarantined for 14 days at designated locations upon entry. The Ministry is coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to exempt quarantine for domestic SMEs when entering the country for important business purposes such as contracts, investments, and technical support. Furthermore, regional SME offices are receiving various applications related to resolving entry and exit difficulties, including quarantine exemption requests upon domestic entry.

Kim Daehee, Director of SME Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, stated, "Many SMEs, lacking manpower and funds, have urgent overseas business trip needs for important business purposes but give up trips due to entry bans or quarantine measures upon entry and exit. Going forward, we will prioritize support for alternatives to overseas business trips, such as online non-face-to-face video consultations, and in cases where entry and exit are absolutely necessary, we will actively cooperate with relevant ministries to facilitate smooth overseas entry and exit."
