Warm Support Continues for COVID-19 Vulnerable Children in Songpa-gu
Donation of School and Hygiene Supplies... Delivered to 230 Dream Start Children
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is helping vulnerable children overcome COVID-19 with sponsorship from local businesses.
Recently, sponsorships from local companies have continued to support vulnerable children in Dream Start who are having a difficult time due to delayed school openings and the closure of welfare facilities.
Dream Start is a child welfare program that provides customized integrated services to help vulnerable children under 12 years old grow into healthy and happy members of society.
Through this program, the district cooperates annually with local businesses to support children’s cultural experiences and academic guidance.
This year as well, public-private cooperative support continues to encourage the dreams of Dream Start children.
First, on the 28th, Lotte World (CEO Choi Hong-hoon) will deliver gift boxes (Dream Box) worth approximately 10 million KRW to 150 low-income elementary school students in the area.
Lotte World supports gift boxes every year to help vulnerable children in the community. This gift box contains 15 types of gifts including stationery sets, Lotte World character products, and hand sanitizers.
Also, on the 24th, Elim SD (CEO Lee Sang-hyeop) donated 2,000 nano-filter masks worth about 1.4 million KRW. The donated nano-filters are functional filters exclusively for cloth masks that help block droplets and external dust. They can be used for 10 hours per use and can be reused more than 20 times after washing.
The district plans to distribute “Good Masks” (cloth masks) supported by Seoul City together with these.
On the 22nd, local environmental company Bon Eco (CEO Kwon Hyun-jung) also contributed. To support children who have difficulty going outside, they donated play and learning tools such as bean sprout cultivators and paper folding block sets worth about 3 million KRW. CEO Kwon Hyun-jung, who has sponsored for three consecutive years, said, “We will continue to pay attention by supporting various cultural activities so that children can nurture their dreams and confidence.”
All sponsored items will be delivered to about 230 Dream Start children through Songpa-gu’s integrated child case managers.
