View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Shinhan Financial Group announced on the 27th that it donated 10,000 COVID-19 test kits and 300 protective suits to the Ministry of Health and Sports of Myanmar in collaboration with the domestic bio company Seegene at the Yangon Medical Research Institute in Myanmar.
Myanmar currently has 146 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 5 deaths, with the number of confirmed cases gradually increasing. In response, the Myanmar government canceled the Water Festival held during the country's largest holiday, Thingyan, and has enforced a nighttime curfew, making every effort to prevent the spread.
Seegene, which participated in the donation together with Shinhan Financial Group, is a molecular diagnostics company exporting FDA-approved test kits to over 60 countries worldwide. Going forward, the two companies plan to provide an additional 15,000 test kits to Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Korean American Medical Association in the United States, among others.
Dr. Zedantun, Director of the Ministry of Health and Sports of Myanmar, said, "It is especially meaningful to receive test kits from Shinhan Financial Group, Korea's leading financial group, at the Yangon Medical Research Institute built by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)."
