[Asia Top Brand] Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance's 'Petpermint Cat Insurance'... A Must-Have for Cat Owners
Lifetime Coverage of Medical Expenses
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance has marked the 1st anniversary of its long-term cat insurance 'Petpermint Cat Insurance,' which provides lifetime coverage for medical expenses of companion cats. As the first cat insurance introduced in the industry, it has attracted significant attention from pet owners.
This insurance minimizes premium increases through renewals every three years and is automatically renewed without rejection, providing coverage up to a maximum age of 20 years. Enrollment is available from 91 days old up to 8 years old, and policyholders can choose between 50% and 70% coverage rates for medical expenses.
The insurance is available to all companion cats residing in Korea, including mixed breeds, with outpatient medical expense coverage (including outpatient surgery) as the basic coverage, and inpatient medical expense coverage (including inpatient surgery) available as an optional add-on.
The premium for a 0-year-old cat with 70% coverage and basic outpatient medical expense coverage only is 29,070 KRW per month, and if the optional inpatient medical expense coverage is added, the premium is 43,150 KRW per month.
Notably, similar to companion dog insurance, an automatic claim system has been introduced, allowing insurance claims to be automatically processed without complicated procedures when treated at over 1,600 veterinary hospitals using the Intuvet electronic chart system.
