Seongnam City 'Zero Tolerance for Quarantine Violations'... Foreigner A and Family of 3 Reported
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, reported to the police a foreigner A who violated quarantine rules and left quarantine without permission during self-isolation, along with two family members who deliberately concealed the unauthorized departure.
A entered Incheon Airport from London, UK, on the 11th and was subject to self-quarantine until the 25th. On the 25th, A was finally confirmed positive for COVID-19.
However, during self-quarantine, A was found through epidemiological investigation to have taken walks with spouse B and mother-in-law C, and visited a post office and a bakery.
They are also known to have deliberately concealed the fact of leaving quarantine from the epidemiological investigation team, thereby obstructing the investigation.
Seongnam City, following a zero-tolerance policy, notified the Seoul Immigration Office of the Ministry of Justice about A's quarantine violation on the 27th, and on the same day, filed a police complaint against A, B, and C for violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act.
An official from the Bundang District Health Center stated, "Under the zero-tolerance principle, if self-quarantined individuals leave without legitimate reasons or deliberately conceal or omit facts in the future, they will be held strictly accountable, including reporting to judicial authorities and claiming compensation."
