[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Joo-hee] Actress Um Tae-woong's wife, ballerina Yoon Hye-jin, opened up about her feelings for the first time in four years following her husband's prostitution scandal.
On the 23rd, Yoon Hye-jin mentioned her husband's prostitution incident from 2016 during a live broadcast on her Instagram. She recalled, "At that time, it was very painful. Nevertheless, the three of us?my husband, our daughter Jion, and I?tried to stay together. Whether people liked it or not, the three of us were there."
She continued, "From an outsider's perspective, my husband seems to have sufficiently reflected on his actions. So, the wife has forgiven him. Since the wife has forgiven him, I hope people would stop talking about it as if it’s someone else’s business." She added, "After my husband's incident, I thought about how to live. I realized I had become the head of the family, and I struggled a lot with how to maintain what we had while moving forward."
Yoon Hye-jin said, "I’m not saying it would be good if my husband acted again. It would be good if he did, but if not, it can’t be helped. I believe he must accept the punishment for what he did."
When asked if she was not divorcing because of money, she responded, "Don’t say frustrating things. My husband didn’t have billions of won. After the incident, we spent all the money on hiring lawyers and other expenses." She expressed, "Even during difficult times, I never received help from my parents or in-laws. That accusation is the most unfair."
