A Single Encrypted Letter Sent by the Independence Army
Jungnang-gu Selected for Cultural Heritage Administration's 'Saengsaeng Cultural Heritage Project'... Independence Activist Training Course at Manguri from April 25 to June 20... Comprising 4 Programs, Experiential Tourism Program with Anti-Japanese Independence Cultural Heritage Storytelling
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] A secret letter sent by independence fighters has arrived at Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi).
Until November this year, residents of Jungnang-gu will become independence activists themselves and take time to visit anti-Japanese independence cultural heritage sites in the area.
The district announced that it will officially launch the program "A Secret Letter Sent by Independence Fighters" as part of the Cultural Heritage Administration's public project, the "Saengsaeng Cultural Heritage Project."
The "Saengsaeng Cultural Heritage Project" is a program that combines the historical meaning and value contained in cultural heritage with local human and material resources to utilize them as educational, performance, experiential, and tourism resources. It is hosted by Jungnang-gu, organized by the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, and supported by the Cultural Heritage Administration and Seoul Metropolitan Government.
The targeted cultural heritage sites for this project are the nationally registered cultural heritage No. 691-5,6,7, "Mangwoo Independence Patriots' Cemetery - Tombs of Seo Gwang-jo, Seo Dong-il, and Oh Jae-young," located in Manguri Park, and Seoul Metropolitan City Monument No. 15, "Achasan Bongsudae Site."
One educational program and three experiential programs themed around the independence movement will be conducted, all free of charge.
First, the "Mangwoo Independence Activist Training Course," held in the Jungnang-gu Office meeting room for 15 adults, is a program to train cultural interpreters who introduce Jungnang-gu's independence movement content and cultural heritage value.
It will be held over eight sessions from the 25th to June 20th, and those who complete the course will have the opportunity to work as cultural interpreters during future Saengsaeng Cultural Heritage programs.
Additionally, there are various activities where participants can directly experience independence army activities, including ▲ a program linked to elementary school curriculum for lower grades in June and July, "Mission! Safely Deliver the Independence Army's Secret Letter!" which explores Korea's beacon fire system in an experiential format, ▲ a program for youth in August, "Mission! Become a Member of the Secret Society Damuldan!" which involves organizing secret societies and identifying spies, and ▲ a program for lower-grade elementary students and families with young children from September to November, "Mission! Decode the Independence Fund Cipher!" which explains the function and necessity of independence funds.
The Jungnang-gu Saengsaeng Cultural Heritage programs operate on a first-come, first-served reservation basis, and applications can be made through the "Jungnang-gu Saengsaeng Cultural Heritage" Naver Cafe (cafe.naver.com/jnsangsang).
Manguri Park is a representative historical and cultural park in Seoul, where the graves of nine registered cultural heritage figures, including Han Yong-un and Bang Jeong-hwan, as well as 46 graves of famous figures such as Park In-hwan and Lee Jung-seop, are gathered in one place. The coexistence of forests, walking trails, and patriots' graves attracts continuous visits from residents.
