KCCI Business Concert to Be Held Online
KCCI Online Management Concert First Release on 24th
Insights for Crisis Response and Management Strategy Formation in the 'COVID-19 Great Transition'
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) announced on the 23rd that it will newly launch the 'KCCI Management Concert' as an online seminar on the 24th.
In the online seminar, KCCI will present crisis response strategies to companies facing a major transformation in the management environment due to COVID-19 and provide information on management trends and international developments.
The first speaker of the online management concert is An Geun-mo, editor-in-chief of Global Monitor and an expert in world economy and financial market analysis. Under the theme "Post-COVID-19 Global Economy and Financial Market Outlook," he will cover ▲ characteristics of the COVID-19 economic crisis ▲ monetary policies of major countries' central banks ▲ risks of collapse in emerging market economies ▲ outlook for the global financial market including exchange rates, oil prices, and interest rates.
Editor An identified the COVID-19 economic crisis as a "Sudden Stop," predicting that the complete halt of economic activities will cause loss of income for companies and households, making central banks' intervention in credit markets inevitable.
Regarding the global economic landscape, he forecasted a European-origin fiscal crisis and the ripple effects of a Chinese foreign exchange crisis, adding that the possibility of a second pandemic following COVID-19 will cause developing countries to suffer the most severe damage. He also diagnosed that a new Cold War system among neighboring countries around the Korean Peninsula, such as the United States, China, and Russia, will emerge in future international affairs.
Following this, Hong Dae-soon, author of the bestseller "Art Management" and former CEO of the global management consulting firm ADL Korea, now a professor at Ewha Womans University Graduate School of Business, will present on the topic "Innovation Strategies Changing the Future of Companies in a Time of Great Transformation." He will introduce "disruptive innovation" to companies seeking new breakthroughs and future growth momentum amid the uncertainties brought by COVID-19.
Professor Hong said, "Disruptive innovation is a simple management method that focuses on the basic principles of corporate management while eliminating unnecessary procedures," adding, "Corporate innovation is born when artistic sensibility, flexible thinking, and originality are reflected in the entire decision-making process of corporate management, including strategy formulation, development, manufacturing, and distribution."
Woo Tae-hee, Executive Vice President of KCCI, said, "We planned the online lecture to help member companies overcome the COVID-19 crisis and devise management strategies to respond to the post-COVID era," and added, "We plan to develop the Management Concert into a customized knowledge channel that delivers the latest economic and management information and insights on the overall industry necessary for CEOs of this era."
