Nayoung Park from Seobinggo-dong, Yongsan-gu Wins Grand Prize for 'Village Community Project Logo'
21 Images Submitted Through Resident Contest... Used for Promoting Village Community Projects

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yongsan-gu (Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) created a logo for the village community project through a resident contest.
The selected work is by Park Na-young (female, 28), a resident of Seobinggo-dong. Utilizing the ‘o’ and ‘ㅅ’ of Yongsan, she neatly designed the image of residents of various colors?red, yellow, and blue?holding hands and standing together with a few lines and dots.
Park said, “Red symbolizes the warm affection of the community, yellow represents a bright future, and blue stands for trust,” adding, “The firmly held hands express the value of residents coming together.”
Park’s work was praised by the judges for encompassing the vision and values of the district’s village community project.
Last month, the district held a logo design contest for the village community project targeting Yongsan residents and local workers.
A total of 21 works were submitted, and through preference surveys of village project participants and Yongsan-gu office employees, as well as a judging committee review, the grand prize (Park Na-young), excellence award (Jung Yeon-bi), and encouragement award (Yang Se-jin) winners were selected.
The total prize money is 1,000,000 KRW (gift certificates). On the 21st, the district held an award ceremony at the mayor’s office, giving prize money of 700,000 KRW, 200,000 KRW, and 100,000 KRW respectively, along with mayoral commendations to the grand prize, excellence, and encouragement award winners.
The district plans to actively use the selected work for promotional materials, booklets, the website, and press releases related to the village community project.
From next month until November, the district will also operate the 2020 village community contest project.
Through last month’s contest, 78 projects were submitted, including ▲Neighbor Making Support (27 cases) ▲Our Village Making Support (23 cases) ▲Activity Support (9 cases) ▲Dong Resident Participation Projects (17 cases) ▲Space Support (1 case) ▲Alley Making (1 case). After the first round of screening, 59 projects were selected. The final results will be announced next month after local subsidy review.
Contract signing and subsidy disbursement are expected to take place around the end of May.

Last year, the district carried out 54 projects in six fields together with residents, including ‘One Heart Village Music Festival,’ ‘Rooftop Moonlight Film Festival,’ and ‘Beauty Classes for Seniors.’
Seong Jang-hyun, mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “Our district is actively conducting village community projects led by residents,” and added, “I express my gratitude to everyone who participated in the logo contest and village project contest.”
