View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] On the 22nd, as the prosecution requested the court to sentence Ko Yoo-jeong (37), who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the first trial for the murder of her ex-husband, to the death penalty in the second trial, her current husband revealed his feelings right after the appeal trial. Earlier, the court acquitted Ko Yoo-jeong of another charge, the murder of her current husband's son, OO.
Her current husband, Mr. A, wrote on an online cafe that afternoon, "A few days ago, OO reached 2,000 days since birth," and added, "It has been 1 year, 1 month, and 20 days since he went to heaven."
He continued, "The world knows the reason why my son OO, whom I loved more than anyone else, went to heaven. But strangely, the results so far have not told me, his father, the reason why OO went to heaven," he lamented.
He then said, "I have talked hundreds of times and spoken with OO as a witness, but I have no memory of the sleepwalking that Ko Yoo-jeong and the Cheongju Sangdang Police talked about. And even if there were sleepwalking, it is very clear medically that there is no reason for OO to have passed away because of it," he emphasized.
He raised his voice, saying, "And finding contradictions and lies of a murderer is as easy as eating cold porridge."
Regarding the court, he pleaded, "Please no longer listen to the perpetrator's fake tears and lies, leaving aside the perpetrator's human rights, and earnestly find the false tears and false statements. That is the first shortcut to finding the truth."
He added, "I don't think it's too late. From now on, I sincerely hope that truly just, fair, and correct truth will be revealed," and lamented, "When I think of the 10 minutes of extreme pain caused by intentional compression before OO went to heaven, I still feel like my mind is half gone."
He continued, "I hope to become a father who can at least know the cause of OO's death, which I will carry in my heart for the rest of my life," and repeatedly pleaded, "I hope my angel OO can smile even once in heaven and have a moment where even a tiny fraction of his grievance is resolved."

He said, "The ruling in the original trial was too illogical and based on absurd reasoning," and explained, "The first reason was the smoking gun regarding OO's (my son’s) death. The autopsy report indicating suffocation by compression in a sealed space, that is, homicide, was the smoking gun in OO's case, but it was not considered at all in the original trial."
He added, "Secondly, my son OO was only slightly smaller than average in appearance, and there is absolutely no possibility that he died by being deeply asleep due to side effects of cold medicine and being pressed by my leg."
He continued, "Thirdly, regarding sentencing, extreme disregard for human life can be applied even if one person dies, and the current sentence for Ko Yoo-jeong is very inappropriate," expressing his indignation.
Earlier, on February 20, the first trial court sentenced Ko Yoo-jeong to life imprisonment. She was acquitted of the charge of killing her stepson due to lack of evidence.
The prosecution appealed the sentence, citing inappropriate sentencing for the ex-husband murder case and factual and legal errors for the stepson murder case. Ko Yoo-jeong’s side also appealed, citing factual and legal errors and inappropriate sentencing.
The second appeal trial is scheduled for 2 p.m. on the 20th of next month.
