[Asia Economy Reporter Shinwon Yoon] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, expressed gratitude to Yoo Si-min, chairman of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, who evaluated him as a presidential candidate.
On the 22nd, Lee appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' and said, "Chairman Yoo Si-min highly praised my response to COVID-19 and reevaluated me as a next presidential candidate," adding, "I am grateful for his evaluation."
He continued, "I just need to work hard, and I believe politicians are always evaluated based on their achievements and abilities. I will work hard."
Earlier, on the 17th, Chairman Yoo mentioned Lee Nak-yeon, co-chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea's joint election committee, and Lee Jae-myung as leading next presidential candidates during the foundation's YouTube channel 'Alileo' broadcast. He said, "The first and second are Chairman Lee and Governor Lee," and added, "If things continue like this, the primary race could be shaped this way."
Regarding Governor Lee, he evaluated, "He gained public appeal through lightning-fast handling and decisiveness during the COVID-19 crisis. He will build a substantial support base going forward," calling this "the strength of politician Lee Jae-myung."
