Eunpyeong-gu 'Han (韓) Culture Special Zone' Entrance Signboard Improvement Project Refreshes Area
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) has completed the 'Hyangnim Village Signboard Improvement Project,' which has been underway since April 2019 as part of the high-efficiency LED signboard replacement support project for wholesale and retail businesses.
This project was carried out to renovate old and dilapidated signboards and illegal protruding signboards that were scattered around, installing distinctive signboards that reflect the characteristics of Hyangnim Village located at the gateway of Eunpyeong-gu's 'Han (韓) Cultural Special Zone.' It aims not only to create a beautiful urban landscape but also to help revitalize the stagnant local commercial district.
The Hyangnim Village Signboard Improvement Project targeted a section along Yeonseo-ro, designated as an urban regeneration activation area, specifically from Yeonseo-ro 303 to 341, improving a total of 59 signboards including 54 business establishments. The design, typography, and colors of the signboards were differentiated for each building and business by reflecting the opinions of local merchants as much as possible.
Additionally, the signboards were installed using high-efficiency LED technology, expected to save more than 60-70% energy compared to the existing fluorescent signboards.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, stated, “I am pleased that the project was successfully completed with the active cooperation of residents. I hope this project will serve as a valuable stepping stone to revive the local commercial district, which has been stagnant due to the economic downturn. Going forward, the district office will continue to work with residents to organize illegal advertisements and establish a proper advertising culture, thereby creating a pleasant and beautiful urban landscape.”
