Lee Jae-myung: "Future United Party mocks and deceives the people with disaster basic income"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, directly criticized the United Future Party for going beyond 'deception' to 'mockery' of the sovereign people regarding the disaster basic income.
On the 21st, Lee posted an article titled "It is still regrettable that the United Future Party is self-harming," stating, "The United Future Party advocated for a nationwide payment of 500,000 won during the (April 15 National Assembly) election, but after the election ended, they came up with a claim excluding the top 30%," expressing his disbelief.
He continued, "Even if they told lies that were not sincere, it is common to at least pretend to keep those lies," adding, "However, the public party is shamelessly making contradictory claims without an apology, overturning their election promises and obstructing the government and ruling party, going beyond deceiving the people."
He also said, "As someone said, the people did not so much choose the Democratic Party of Korea as they rejected the United Future Party in this election," and added, "It is regrettable that the United Future Party still does not realize why it was abandoned by the people and cannot abandon the old habit of treating the people as ignorant beings swayed by agitation."
Lee stated, "Representative party politics matures through healthy competition with a constructive opposition," and advised, "Not for the sake of the United Future Party but for the healthy development of representative democracy in the Republic of Korea, if they do not want to be completely discarded beyond being temporarily abandoned by the people, they should fear the people and at least pretend to keep promises made to the public."
Furthermore, he emphasized, "To add, in times of crisis, it is right to provide equal support to all citizens, even if the amount is small, rather than to specific household units of certain classes. Contrary to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance's claim, if national bonds are issued on the condition of adjusting this year's budget and next year's and the year after's budgets to repay them, as Governor Kim Kyung-soo (Gyeongnam) suggested, there is no harm to fiscal soundness."

He also expressed concern, saying, "In a crisis where even a single bean must be shared, members are angry and anxious not about the amount but about exclusion and discrimination," and "After the decision to provide payments to all households, the people who were angry about discrimination by income class will be angry and disappointed about the difference in amounts (40,000 won for a single-person household, but 20,000 won for a five-person household member) except for single-person household members."
