Gwangju Dong-gu Selected for 'Hope Stepping Stone' Employment Support Program for Low-Income Youth and Middle-Aged Adults
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 21st that the 'Hope Stepping Stone Project,' which provides customized employment support for low-income youth such as basic livelihood security recipients, has been finally selected as a Gwangju Metropolitan City public project.
With the selection of the public project, Dong-gu secured a project budget of 100 million KRW and will carry out customized employment support projects for low-income youth, including aptitude tests, career counseling, certification acquisition, and special employment lectures.
In addition, it plans to support success in employment and entrepreneurship by conducting psychological counseling and healing programs not only for the individuals but also for their families, strengthening family functions, restoring relationships among members, and promoting independence motivation in parallel with family coaching.
The target group will be selected through a full survey starting from the 1st of next month, selecting 50 low-income unemployed youth aged between 18 and 34.
In particular, Dong-gu has formed a consortium with the International Career Center, which has employment agreements with 566 companies in the Gwangju and Jeolla regions, to create an environment where low-income youth can quickly achieve employment. Even after the project ends, thorough follow-up management will be conducted to continuously support employment activities for the unemployed as well as address any difficulties.
