According to Jangheung County on the 21st, the Jeongnamjin Jangheung Saturday Market Merchants' Association (President Kim Young-sil) and Women's Association (President Kim Soo-ra) each donated 1.5 million won and 500,000 won to Jangheung County to be used for overcoming the COVID-19 crisis.
The reason traditional market merchants, who are facing the greatest difficulties due to reduced consumption, decided to donate funds is their desire to share the value of "togetherness" even in hardship.
Jeongnamjin Jangheung Saturday Market, which has served as a pillar of the local economy by being selected as the "2015 Korea Tourism Star" and "2017-2018 Korea Tourism 100," was not spared from the COVID-19 crisis.
However, based on a sense of community that comes together especially in difficult times, the members united their intentions to donate funds to overcome the hardships.
The Jeongnamjin Jangheung Saturday Market Women's Association also donated 1 million won last year to the talent development scholarship fund to support Jangheung County's talent cultivation.
