Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation Receives Minister of Education Award on Disability Day
[Asia Economy Reporter Haeyoung Kwon] Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation announced on the 21st that it received the Minister of Education Award in recognition of the achievements of the 'Hope School Software (SW) Classroom' project, promoted through the Hope Society Project, on the occasion of the 40th Disabled Persons Day.
The Hope School SW Classroom, which was recognized for its contribution this time, is the first SW education project in Korea targeting special schools. Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation has been conducting various educational programs for students with disabilities since starting a pilot project in 2018.
The Hope School SW Classroom consists of programs such as ▲SW education for students with disabilities ▲SW camps for students with disabilities ▲training of SW specialist instructors for students with disabilities ▲practical training for university students majoring in special education. Starting this year, it plans to further expand by adding a nationwide SW competition for students with disabilities in special schools and training sessions for special school teachers.
Through the Hope School SW Classroom, Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation provided education to about 1,400 students with disabilities at approximately 50 schools until last year. This year, coding, IT education, and financial education will be conducted at more than 50 special schools.
A representative of Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation said, "The Hope Society Project is a process of creating a hopeful society where everyone lives well together by solving problems that everyone in our society empathizes with," and added, "We will continue to spare no support for places that need attention and help around us."

Meanwhile, Shinhan Financial Group is promoting social contribution projects worth a total of 270 billion KRW over three years until 2020 to support income activities for low-income groups, growth of small and medium enterprises, and community development through the Hope Society Project, a social contribution program involving all group companies including Shinhan Bank, Shinhan Card, and Shinhan Financial Investment.
