SPC Samlip to Sell California Specialty 'Eggslut' in Korea
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] SPC Group's affiliate SPC Samlip announced on the 21st that it has secured the exclusive domestic operation contract for Eggslut, a famous sandwich brand from California, USA, as well as the business operation rights in Singapore.
SPC Samlip plans to open the first Eggslut store in Korea at Starfield COEX Mall in June.
Eggslut is famous for its egg sandwiches that reinterpret fresh ingredients such as brioche buns, eggs, and sriracha mayo sauce (a spread made by mixing sriracha, a type of hot sauce, with mayonnaise).
The first Eggslut store, located in the Grand Central Market in downtown LA, is known as a must-visit gourmet spot among tourists. It is also regarded by local food enthusiasts as a brand that has established a higher level of culinary world through egg dishes developed by a chef with fine dining experience. Currently, Eggslut operates stores in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Kuwait, and other countries.
SPC Group, which pioneered the domestic fine casual market by launching Shake Shack, plans to further expand the fine casual market through Eggslut.
Jeff Vailes, co-founder of Eggslut, said, “We are pleased to introduce the special taste of ‘Eggslut,’ which means a chef who uses eggs in various ways, to Korean customers,” adding, “SPC Samlip, a food company with 75 years of history, has production and supply chains for eggs, meat processing, vegetables, and sauces based on its baking technology, making it the optimal partner to faithfully realize Eggslut’s unique taste and quality.”
An SPC Group official said, “To strengthen our capabilities in the food service business and create synergy with existing businesses, we introduced Eggslut from the West Coast following Shake Shack, a famous brand from the East Coast of the U.S.,” adding, “We plan to discover various new businesses to secure new growth engines for our leap as a comprehensive food company.”
