KT 5G MEC Core Technology Adopted as Global Standard
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT announced on the 21st that it proposed the core technology of 'Mobile Edge Computing,' the 'Multi-Access Management System (MAMS)' and related protocols, as an IETF global standard at the 107th meeting of the International Internet Technology Committee, and it was finally adopted.
The IETF is an organization that performs the technical work of the US 'IAB,' which develops standard specifications for the smooth use of the internet. The IETF has established standards for internet protocols. The Multi-Access Management System technology proposed by KT selectively manages connection paths for different devices and networks such as 5G, LTE, WIFI, and wired networks according to purpose or use.

Lee Jong-sik, Head of KT Infrastructure Research Institute (Senior Executive Director), said, "KT's 5G core technologies and IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) acquired during the preparation process for 5G commercial service are being adopted as standard technologies through various standardization organizations including the IETF," adding, "KT will continue to strengthen its research and development capabilities to discover core 5G technologies for customers and global standardization in the future."
