Gangbuk-gu, Warm Gestures Sent from Chinese Sister Cities
Shenyang City Dadong District Provides 12,000 Masks and 500 Protective Suits... Relief Supplies to Be Distributed to COVID-19 Prevention Workers
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Park Kyum-soo) announced on the 20th that it received 12,000 medical masks and 500 protective suits as relief supplies from Dadong District, Shenyang City, its sister city in China.
At the end of last month, Lee Kang, Mayor of Dadong District, sent an official letter to Park Kyum-soo, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, expressing sympathy for the hardships and difficulties residents are experiencing due to COVID-19 and conveyed words of consolation while expressing the intention to deliver quarantine supplies. He also stated, "Let us share our experiences and know-how in infectious disease response and strengthen broad cooperation to solidify the friendship between both sides."
Mayor Park responded in a letter to them, saying, "We sincerely appreciate Dadong District's warm support and assistance in sharing difficulties together," and added, "We hope that COVID-19 will end soon so that exchanges and cooperation between both sides can be carried out more actively."
The supplies received through the Red Cross Society of Shenyang City, China, are scheduled to be distributed to medical staff working at Gangbuk-gu screening clinics and quarantine workers.
Earlier, in February, when the infectious disease widely spread in China, the district considered supporting quarantine supplies to its sister city, but due to rapidly changing domestic circumstances such as the supply of public masks and the spread of community cluster infections, the plan could not be realized.
