Hyundai ENG Donates 'Untact' Goods... Opens Goodwill Store Milal Ilsan Branch
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] The 'Goodwill Store Milal Ilsan Branch,' sponsored by Hyundai Engineering, officially opened on the 20th in celebration of the '40th Disabled Persons Day,' delivering over 3,200 donated items from employees.
On this day, Hyundai Engineering handed over clothing, miscellaneous goods, small home appliances, and daily necessities voluntarily donated by employees from the 13th to the 17th to the Goodwill Store Milal Ilsan Branch.
This donation social contribution activity was conducted in an 'untact (non-face-to-face)' manner to participate in the 'social distancing' campaign due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Previously, employee volunteers handled the receipt and sorting of donated items, but this year, a separate storage location was prepared where employees could submit items directly without separate reception personnel, and they filled out the receipt themselves, eliminating contact between employees. The donated items storage location was regularly disinfected by a professional company to maintain cleanliness.
Reflecting the social atmosphere, the Goodwill Store Milal Ilsan Branch officially opened on this day without a separate ceremony. The Goodwill Store Milal Ilsan Branch is a vocational rehabilitation facility for the disabled, established with 450 million KRW sponsorship from Hyundai Engineering, the Employee Love Sharing Fund, Hyundai Motor Group, and Community Chest of Korea. After a soft opening in February and a two-month preparation period, full-scale operations have begun.
The Goodwill Store supports disabled workers to directly participate in the entire process of reprocessing and merchandising items, from collection, sorting, processing, to packaging, thereby generating labor income and establishing a foundation for independence.
Hyundai Engineering has empathized with the founding purpose of the Goodwill Store, which provides 'opportunities, not charity, to the disabled,' and has been conducting biannual donation campaigns steadily since 2017. In addition to donating trucks for item collection and employee volunteer activities, this year they also contributed to the opening of a new Goodwill Store branch.

A Hyundai Engineering official said, "By conducting the donation activities in an 'untact' manner in line with the social atmosphere, employees could participate in donating items for the independence of disabled neighbors with greater peace of mind. We plan to continue social contribution activities that break away from one-time financial support and help improve the quality of life for marginalized neighbors through job provision, creating social value."
