Yeonggwang-gun Strengthens Inspection of High-Risk Facilities Following Extension of 'Social Distancing' Measures
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeon Seong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Jun-seong) announced on the 20th that it will conduct education related to the government's extension of social distancing measures until the 5th of next month and strengthen inspections on compliance with quarantine guidelines for high-risk facilities at a meeting with senior officials in the county office conference room on the 20th.
This decision follows the government's guideline to extend social distancing for 16 days starting from this day, as the daily number of new COVID-19 cases in South Korea has decreased to around 20 in the past week due to the 'enhanced social distancing' measures so far, but there is a risk of re-spread if the quarantine network loosens due to easing of distancing.
The main points of the extended social distancing are to refrain from unnecessary gatherings, outings, and events as much as possible, but in unavoidable cases such as essential exams, limited allowance is permitted within the scope of compliance with quarantine guidelines.
Additionally, entertainment facilities, some sports facilities, academies, and religious facilities will be adjusted from the previous recommendation of 'suspension of operation' to 'recommendation to refrain from operation,' but compliance with quarantine guidelines must be maintained as before.
The county has so far distributed quarantine supplies such as hand sanitizers to entertainment facilities, PC rooms, karaoke rooms, religious facilities, and nursing facilities, and assigned dedicated public officials to check compliance with quarantine rules at least twice a week.
All administrative efforts have also been focused on blocking COVID-19 infection, including fever checks for users of the Yeonggwang 5-day Market, fever checks for visitors at major roads entering the county, and attaching antibacterial films to elevators.

Governor Kim Jun-seong said, “Although fatigue among residents and public officials is increasing due to the prolonged social distancing, I hope that all residents and public officials will participate together in infection prevention activities to keep our area a clean region free of COVID-19 infections.”
