39 COVID-19 Cases Confirmed Within the Military
Due to the spread of COVID-19, the IT industry, which had been working remotely, has gradually shifted to a partial commuting system. [Asia Economy Reporter Yang Nak-gyu] The cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the military has been counted as 39.
On the 20th, the Ministry of National Defense announced that there were 40 confirmed COVID-19 cases the previous day. However, they explained that since an Air Force trainee was confirmed positive on the 2nd of last month before enlistment, this case was already included in the government's confirmed case statistics and therefore excluded from the military's cumulative confirmed cases.
The Air Force trainee was declared fully recovered at the end of last month and enlisted in the Air Force on the 6th of this month. The Air Force isolated the trainee and conducted a COVID-19 PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test, which came back positive.
Previously, the military authorities did not include three trainees confirmed positive at the Nonsan Army Training Center in the military's cumulative confirmed cases because their infection was confirmed before official enlistment.

As of 10 a.m. on the day, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the military is 39, of which 36 have fully recovered. By branch, there are 21 in the Army (19 recovered), 1 in the Navy, 2 in the Marine Corps (2 recovered), 14 in the Air Force (14 recovered), and 1 in the Ministry of National Defense direct units (1 recovered). According to health authorities, about 40 people including the Air Force trainee are in isolation, and according to military standards, about 1,200 people are in preventive quarantine.
