Bucheon City Expands Support for Solar Panel Installation on Detached Houses
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province is investing 33 million KRW this year to expand the distribution of 'residential-type solar power plants,' providing installation cost support exceeding 120% compared to last year for about 36 households.
The support amount is a total of 3.41 million KRW (2.51 million KRW from the national government, 900,000 KRW from the city) for installing 3kW. The personal burden has significantly decreased compared to last year, and if a separate provincial subsidy is applied for at the Gyeonggi-do Energy Center, an additional 300,000 KRW can be supported.
Eligible recipients are owners of detached houses located in Bucheon City, and they must be selected for the renewable energy distribution project by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Korea Energy Agency).
Solar power generation, a low-carbon profit model, does not produce fine dust and is environmentally friendly as it is installed in the idle spaces of houses without damaging forests.
Installing a solar power plant can also reduce electricity bills. Although it varies depending on usage and power generation, a household using 400kWh per month can save up to about 50,000 KRW per month by installing 3kW.
Until last year, the city supported installation costs for a total of 213 households with a scale of 639kW of solar power. For detailed information about the support project, please check the Bucheon City website.
