According to Wando Office of Education on the 20th, Shin Woo-cheol, the mayor of Wando County, visited Gunoe Elementary School, which is conducting real-time interactive online classes, along with Wando County staff to encourage the faculty and showed great interest in online education for kindergartens, elementary, and high schools.
Mayor Shin Woo-cheol of Wando County said, “It was impressive to see students participating in emergency care maintaining social distance and taking online classes with their homeroom teachers,” and added, “I appreciate the teachers’ passion as they undertake online classes for the first time due to COVID-19.”
An official from the Office of Education said, “Mayor Shin Woo-cheol, who usually has a strong interest in education, installed simple washbasins and distributed thermometers to kindergartens and elementary and middle schools in the district to prevent COVID-19,” and added, “Despite the difficult situation, emergency support was provided to schools in the district, resulting in high satisfaction among parents.”
Currently, under the special directive of Mayor Shin Woo-cheol, Wando County is installing simple washbasins at a total of 12 schools and 18 locations, including Wando Kindergarten, Hana Dul Set Kindergarten, Wando Elementary School, Nohwa Elementary School, Saengyeong Elementary School, and Wando Middle School, by investing 73 million won from the contingency fund.

Superintendent Kim Myung-sik said, “Education that communicates and cooperates with local governments is even more necessary in urgent situations like now,” and added, “We will continuously communicate with local governments to support what schools need so that remote classes satisfying students, parents, and teachers can be conducted.”
