"600 Experts-Startup Matching" ... Seoul City Launches 'Campus Town' Project in Full Swing
Online Platform for Information Sharing Among 34 Major and 170 Companies to Open in May
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] An 'Online Campus Town Platform' that connects 34 universities participating in the Seoul Campus Town project and over 170 resident startup teams to exchange information and receive necessary support will open. Additionally, 600 technology experts, including researchers and professors within universities, will be matched one-on-one with startup companies to begin 'technology commercialization.'
On the 20th, Seoul City announced the launch of a 'technology matching' project that matches technology experts with startup companies one-on-one by collecting technology demands from Campus Town startups, small and medium-sized enterprises located in Seoul, and others in the field, to provide various technology consulting and technology development research support for startups.
This year, the city plans to select 20 startup companies to support R&D costs (up to 100 million KRW per case) and select a total of 100 cases (up to 2 million KRW per case) for technology consulting projects. To select consulting and R&D research for technology commercialization, a 'technology expert pool' consisting of about 600 researchers and professors from participating universities such as Korea University and Hanyang University will be formed.
After technology development by Campus Town startups, follow-up support such as demonstration, patents, investment attraction, marketing, and sales channels will be provided to connect to commercialization.
The 'Campus Town Online Platform (https://campustown.seoul.go.kr),' which allows users to view business and product information of 34 participating universities and 170 resident companies, as well as startup support services provided by Seoul City including technology consulting, legal advice, startup consulting, and prototype production, will be operational from the 1st of next month.
This platform is a self-sustaining shared space where entrepreneurs create information for entrepreneurs through communication and collaboration among themselves. For example, through the community space 'Startup Talk,' entrepreneurs can post problems or difficulties encountered during their business, and beyond exchanging opinions among Campus Town entrepreneurs, they can receive advice from entrepreneurs at all 34 universities. The technology matching project also accepts applications at any time through this platform.
On the Campus Town Online Platform, entrepreneurs can check and reserve the Campus Town resident spaces provided free of charge by each school and their real-time usage status at a glance, and have the opportunity to use startup spaces operated by other universities' Campus Towns. Entrepreneurs can also participate in free consulting and R&D to help solve difficult legal and technical issues commonly experienced in the business field.
