[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Korea Expressway Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Headquarters (Head Kim Ju-seong) announced on the 20th that it purchased 100 boxes of "Eco-friendly Agricultural Product Packages" to support farmers affected by COVID-19 and provided them to underprivileged groups in the region.
Korea Expressway Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Headquarters purchased "Eco-friendly Agricultural Product Packages" worth about 3 million won to help local farmers who faced difficulties due to the disruption of sales channels for agricultural products that were supposed to be delivered to schools because of the spread of COVID-19. On the 16th, the packages were donated to the Damyang-gun Welfare Foundation and are scheduled to be delivered to underprivileged groups such as low-income elderly people in the region.
The eco-friendly agricultural product packages consist of nine types of fresh foods, including zucchini, green onions, carrots, and young radish leaves.
Also, on the 17th, in collaboration with Jeonnam Nonghyup, a "Eco-friendly Agricultural Product Package Sales Event" was held at the Seomjingang (Busan direction) Rest Area, recording sales of over 100 boxes in just two hours.
This event was conducted in a drive-thru manner to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and was sold at a discounted price compared to market prices, receiving a positive response from customers.
A representative of Korea Expressway Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Headquarters said, "We hope to be of some help to local farmers and underprivileged groups who are struggling due to COVID-19," and added, "We will take the lead in realizing the social value of public enterprises through community-based management in the future."
Meanwhile, Korea Expressway Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Headquarters plans to participate in a group blood donation by employees on the 21st to help alleviate the blood supply shortage.
