KOSPI Rises 3% to Recover 1920 Level... KOSDAQ Also Shows Strong Gains Together
[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] On the 17th, the KOSPI index rose more than 3% compared to the previous day, recovering the 1920 level during the session.
At 10:45 a.m. that day, the KOSPI stood at 1921.87, up 3.49% (64.80 points) from the previous close.
The KOSPI opened at 1893.31, up 1.95% (36.24 points) from the previous trading day, and continued its strong performance.
In the securities market, foreigners and institutions were net buyers of 444.8 billion KRW and 176.8 billion KRW respectively, while individuals were net sellers of 627.6 billion KRW.
By sector, chemicals (4.18%), electrical and electronics (5.66%), and construction (2.89%) rose, while pharmaceuticals (1.2%) and food and beverages (0.14%) declined.
Among the top 10 companies by market capitalization, only Samsung Biologics (1.11%) and Celltrion (2.79%) were in a downward trend. Others such as Samsung Electronics (5.71%), SK Hynix (5.54%), LG Chem (8.6%), and Samsung SDI (11.81%) showed upward trends.
The KOSDAQ index also rose, supported by the KOSPI's upward momentum. At the same time, the KOSDAQ was at 632.82, up 1.51% (9.39 points) from the previous close.
The KOSDAQ opened at 631.34, up 1.27% (7.91 points) from the previous day, and gradually traced an upward curve.
In the KOSDAQ market, individuals and institutions were net buyers of 22.9 billion KRW and 31.1 billion KRW respectively, while foreigners were net sellers of 51.3 billion KRW.
Among the top market cap stocks, Pearl Abyss (4.09%), CJ ENM (5.13%), and Helixmith (1.67%) rose. On the other hand, Celltrion Healthcare (1.96%), HL Biopharma (1.4%), and Studio Dragon (1.89%) declined.
