Vice Minister Gi Jae: "Blockchain Projects Included in Next Year's Budget Proposal"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The government plans to include blockchain-related projects in next year's budget to support the development of blockchain technology.
On the 17th, Koo Yoon-cheol, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, held a meeting on blockchain with related agencies and private experts. This meeting was organized to review the current status of blockchain technology and industry and to gather opinions on the government's role in the development of the blockchain industry.
Vice Minister Koo said, "The blockchain-related industry is expected to grow at an average annual rate of over 80%, and countries overseas are competitively supporting the market, which is recognized as a promising future technology, to gain a leading position. Since the market is still in its early stages, it is quite possible to take the lead in the industry if the government supports it efficiently."
He added, "The technological gap with blockchain-leading countries such as the United States and Europe is not large, about 2 to 3 years, so now is the golden time to catch up," and urged, "I hope you will consider efficient support measures for blockchain technology development."
