[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Tongyeong City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 17th that it will provide emergency disaster relief funds to the top 30% income citizens who do not receive the government's emergency disaster relief funds due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Although the government decided to provide up to 1 million KRW in emergency support to the bottom 70% income households struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, Tongyeong City plans to support all citizens regardless of income level, considering the current situation as a crisis.
The support amount is 100,000 KRW for single-person households and up to 400,000 KRW per household. Approximately 17,800 households and about 39,000 people in Tongyeong City are expected to benefit. In this case, about 4 billion KRW of city budget will be required.
