Busan District Prosecutors' Office Investigating Five General Election Winners for Election Law Violations
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] The Busan District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 17th that it is investigating five individuals elected in the 21st National Assembly elections.
As of today, the prosecution has indicted 64 people on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act, among whom one has been detained and prosecuted. Excluding three who were not prosecuted, the remaining 60 include five elected members of the 21st general election. The prosecution is conducting investigations on them.
The Busan District Prosecutors' Office stated, "Regardless of their affiliated party, rank, or election status, we will conduct strict and swift investigations and ensure that appropriate sentences corresponding to the illegal acts are imposed."

Including Busan, nationwide, 1,350 people have been caught by the police for election crimes, among whom nine have been detained. The prosecution and police have currently indicted 94 elected officials, investigating 90 of them.
