[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] SPA brand SPAO, operated by E-Land World (CEO Choi Woon-sik), is conducting the ‘SPAO Cooltech Donation Campaign’ to support people with developmental disabilities from the 20th to the 24th of this month in celebration of ‘Day of Persons with Disabilities’.
For every purchase of one SPAO Cooltech cooling underwear, one piece will be donated to a person with developmental disabilities through a matching contribution by SPAO and the E-Land Foundation in this charitable donation campaign.
Additionally, 100 KRW will be donated for each supportive comment on the E-Land Mall, and by uploading a purchase verification photo of SPAO Cooltech on social networking services (SNS) with the hashtags ‘#DevelopmentalDisabilityIndependenceSupport #SPAO #Cooltech #ELandMall #ELandFoundation’, participants will be entered into a draw to receive Cooltech as a gift.
The beneficiaries are trainees and employees under centers affiliated with the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities and families of on-site workers with developmental disabilities at the Milal Foundation Goodwill Store Developmental Disability Center.
SPAO, which marks its 11th anniversary this year, has been presenting a model of direct employment of persons with disabilities by supporting employment training and direct hiring of people with developmental disabilities since 2014. It was also recognized for its contribution to creating jobs for persons with disabilities and received the ‘Iron Tower Industrial Medal for Promotion of Employment of Persons with Disabilities’ at the 2019 Disability Employment Promotion Conference.
A SPAO official stated, “The employees with developmental disabilities hired by SPAO are mostly persons with severe disabilities who are more vulnerable to employment. Currently, SPAO has signed MOUs with 13 developmental disability training centers across regions and hires trainees from these centers.” He added, “We plan to actively expand employment policies, including adding SPAO training centers in six regions this year.”
