Seongbuk-gu, Passing Down School Uniforms with Love
To Prevent COVID-19 Spread, Over 200 Uniforms Delivered Directly to 6 Schools for Students to Receive After Washing and Repair
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) announced that through the ‘2020 Middle and High School Students’ Uniform Handover Sharing Event,’ over 200 uniforms donated by graduates were delivered to six local schools (Bugak Middle School, Jongam Middle School, Wolgok Middle School, Jangwi Middle School, Hongdae Middle School, Hongdae High School).
Until last year, the district held thrift markets where parents and students could directly select uniforms, but this year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the event scheduled for February was postponed indefinitely.
However, as the infectious disease spread prolonged, it was decided to change the method to directly deliver the donated uniforms to the schools.
The uniforms donated this year were delivered to the schools from the 7th to the 13th through the Seongbuk-gu Youth Guidance Council (Chairman Lee Jin-guk), and will be distributed free of charge to students in need within the schools.
Lee Jin-guk, Chairman of the Seongbuk-gu Youth Guidance Council, said, “It is regrettable that we could not meet the students directly through the uniform sharing event, but it is a priority to provide cleanly washed and repaired uniforms to students in need in a timely manner,” adding, “Let us overcome COVID-19 through each person’s efforts.”
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “The uniform handover sharing event is an event that embodies the spirit of resource sharing and donation, where graduates pass their uniforms to juniors, and we hope for continued interest and participation from parents and youth.”
